The governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has hinted on his willingness to reconcile with his political arch-rival, former Governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso and the APC faction led by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau.

In a new year message, signed by the state Commissioner of Information, Muhammad Garba, on Friday, Mr Ganduje said the year 2022 will be dedicated to ushering in a new era of peace and reconciliation among political parties’ stakeholders in the state and the country in general.

Although the governor did not mention names of the aforementioned politicians, the statement emphasized the need for the political gladiators in the state to come together in order to “bring a new dawn in political history of the state”.

He said: “The event, which saw Kano political gladiators emphasizing on the need for reconciliation, elicited excitement from the people of Kano state who have been yearning for the much-needed peace and conciliation in order to advance the cause for proper development in the political terrain and the society at large.”

The statement, however, noted with concern the spate of insecurity across the country and the poverty that is ravaging the country.

He, however, expressed hope that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has been making frantic efforts towards addressing the challenges bedeviling the country.

The governor also assured that his administration is determined to make things better for the people through its rural transformation as well as economic empowerment programmes.

While felicitating with the people on the New Year, Mr Ganduje also called for unity and prayers for Nigeria, drawing on the religious leaders to preach the message of peace, tolerance and harmonious relationship amidst the challenges in the country.
