Ukraine’s hero president Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Joe Biden to visit the state in order to witness the true horror of Russia’s invasion.

During an interview with CNN, Mr Zelensky said he believes the American President should travel to the country despite the safety situation surrounding his arrival.

Asked on whether he has any plans to welcome the US President, Mr Zelensky said: “I think he will.

“It’s his decision of course, and they must consider the safety situation. But I think he’s the leader of the United States, and that’s why he should come here to see.”

Despite Mr Zelensky’s calls, the White House has refused to confirm whether Mr Biden will travel to the state.

Mr Biden did admit last week, however, the US was considering dispatching a senior official to Ukraine.

During his interview, the Ukrainian president said there is “substantial evidence” which points to Russian forces committing genocide.

He said: “They just shot people in the streets. People were riding bicycles, taking the bus, or just walking down the street.

“There were corpses lying in the streets. These were not soldiers. They were civilians.

“They bound their hands. They forced children to watch as they raped their mothers. Then they threw them in a well or in mass graves, children, adults, the elderly.

“We have substantial evidence that points to this being a genocide, audio and video where they talk about just how much they hate us.”

Ukrainian officials claimed up to 410 civilians were killed in the towns surrounding Kyiv, while a mass grave was also discovered in Bucha.

Boris Johnson, who made a surprise visit to Ukraine last week, also claimed the images seen of the town of Bucha, were not “far short of genocide”.

During his visit to the state, Mr Johnson pledged the UK’s “unwavering” support for Ukraine.

While the Prime Minister pledged his support for Ukraine, Mr Zelensky added the world should be ready for the prospect of Vladimir Putin using nuclear weapons.

The leader called for more air raid shelters and more anti-radiation medicines.

He added: “Chemical weapons. They could do it, for them the life of the people is nothing. That’s why. We should think not be afraid, not be afraid but be ready.

“But that is not a question for Ukraine, not only for Ukraine but for all the world, I think.”
