POLICE CONDEMN THE USE OF VIGILANTE JUSTICE IN ANAMBRA STATE.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has issued a stern warning against the irresponsible practice of jungle justice in the state. In a statement released by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CP Adeoye labeled groups or individuals engaging in mob lynching of crime suspects as beasts, emphasizing that resorting to such practices is even worse than the offenses committed by the suspects.

Highlighting the severity of the consequences, CP Adeoye pointed out that acts of lynching amount to murder, which carries the death penalty. He urged aggrieved parties to bring their cases to the police and, if dissatisfied with the outcome, to contact his office directly. Emphasizing the commitment of the Police Command to maintaining law and order, the Commissioner warned that self-help measures would not be tolerated in the state.
