Nigerians are urged to offer prayers for the successful implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform programs aimed at fostering sustainable development in the country. The call was made by the Minister of Environment, Dr. Ishaq Salako, during the 69th Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria annual Islamic conference in Ilaro, Ogun state.

Dr. Salako emphasized the role of Muslims in addressing climate change, quoting the Quran to highlight the importance of preserving the ozone layer. He stressed that conscious Muslims should actively protect the environment. The Minister acknowledged President Tinubu’s reform initiatives, particularly focusing on environmental sustainability, including the reduction of fossil fuel emissions through the introduction of electric vehicles and CNG buses.

Dr. Salako commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim community for their enduring commitment to moral and spiritual training, citing his personal experience attending their conferences. He reflected on the theme of the conference, “Taqwa: Pathway to Justice and Peace,” as a significant step towards addressing societal challenges.

Ogun Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Ganiyu Oladunjoye Hamzat, expressed gratitude for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat’s support for peaceful coexistence in the state. He also highlighted the governor’s commitment to fulfilling promises made during his visit to the Islamic gathering.

Commissioner of Special Duties, Kogi state, Honorable Ismail Adesayo Yahaya, encouraged Muslim faithfuls to actively participate in politics, emphasizing the need for exemplary character in governance. He appreciated the support of Governor Dapo Abiodun during the election in Kogi state.

The Amir Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria, Alhaji Alatoye Folorunso Azeez, stressed the importance of inculcating the fear of God in governance. He conveyed a goodwill message from the world leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, Hazrat Mosroor Ahmad.

The conference featured six lectures by Islamic scholars covering various topics, and 12 academic awards were presented to members who excelled in various fields. The event was attended by over 30,000 delegates and guests.
