Kano State Police Assure Safety Ahead of Supreme Court Judgment on Governorship Election

In anticipation of the Supreme Court’s judgment on the Kano State Governorship election, the State Police authority has reassured residents of safety before, during, and after the verdict. Commissioner of Police Hussaini Gumel conveyed this assurance during an interactive session with journalists in Kano.

Gumel emphasized that the police command has implemented security measures to allow residents to conduct their legitimate business without fear for lives and property. Collaborating with other security agencies, the command aims to ensure a crisis-free environment before and after the Supreme Court’s decision on the governorship election.

The Commissioner explained that operational orders detailing security provisions for each of the 44 local government areas in the state have been issued to area commanders and divisional police officers. Sufficient armed personnel have been mobilized to cover key areas such as political party offices, the State Government House, INEC headquarters, banks, commercial areas, mosques, churches, recreation centers, and motor parks during the judgment period.

Assuring 100 percent safety for law-abiding residents, Gumel stated that armed security personnel would be stationed in strategic locations for surveillance and to provide physical security. The comprehensive security measures aim to promote peaceful coexistence across the entire state.

Gumel disclosed that specific roles for security personnel have been outlined in operational orders distributed to Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and divisional police officers throughout the 44 local government areas. He urged residents to cooperate with armed security personnel, emphasizing the importance of sharing intelligence information regarding any person or group planning to disrupt peace or engage in violent protests before and after the Supreme Court judgment.
