Senator (Dr) Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, has called upon both public and private entities across Nigeria to rally behind the country’s military in defense of the nation and the promotion of peace and stability.
The Governor made this appeal on Monday during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration at the Military Cenotaph in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State. While laying a wreath, Governor Adeleke emphasized the significance of supporting the Nigerian military and highlighted the uniqueness of this year’s celebration for Osun State, as the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, hails from the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Adeleke expressed pride in Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s leadership of the Nigerian Army, stating, “We are proud of him.” He stressed the essential role Osun State has played historically in the nation’s military and called for increased support for veterans who have sacrificed for the country.

He called upon both public and private bodies to expand their support for the military, emphasizing that national security should remain a top priority.
Addressing the challenges faced by Nigeria, especially in conflict-prone regions, Governor Adeleke acknowledged the strain on the military and emphasized the need for resources to ensure effective operation and care for personnel. He commended the military leadership for implementing the civil-military intervention program and recommended collaboration with community development agencies for efficient project implementation.
