FG Discovers 32 Smuggling Routes, Shettima Reveals

Vice President Kashim Shettima announced the Nigerian government’s discovery of 32 smuggling routes used for transporting food items out of the country. Shettima disclosed that on Sunday night, authorities intercepted 45 trucks loaded with maize en route to neighboring countries, highlighting the magnitude of the issue.

Addressing a conference on Public Wealth Management in Abuja on Tuesday, Vice President Shettima emphasized the detrimental impact of smuggling on food prices, citing a significant drop in maize prices following the interception of the trucks.

He underscored the urgent need for national unity and collaboration to counteract forces aiming to undermine the nation’s stability. Shettima called upon Nigerians to transcend political divisions and prioritize governance over politics, expressing concern over attempts to incite violence and destabilize the country.

Despite challenges, Shettima reaffirmed Nigeria’s resilience and urged citizens to work together to safeguard the nation’s integrity and security.
