Davido Pledges ₦300 Million to Orphanages in Nigeria Through His Foundation

Nigerian singer Davido, in keeping with tradition, has pledged a sum of ₦300 million to be distributed among orphanages across Nigeria through his foundation.

On Tuesday, February 20, 2024, the Grammy-nominated artist announced his generous contribution via his official Instagram, reaffirming his commitment to supporting vulnerable children in the country.

Established in 2022, the Davido Adeleke Foundation, with the assistance of other charitable organizations, aims to provide assistance to underprivileged children. In July 2023, Davido proudly revealed that the foundation had donated over ₦200 million to orphanages nationwide, benefiting 13,818 children. He also expressed his intention to continue donating in 2024.

In a press release issued at the time of the donation, Davido stated, “I founded the DAF in 2022 with a strong desire and passion to continually assist and create a proper framework for the ongoing charitable works to benefit the good people of Nigeria.”

This philanthropic endeavor traces back to 2021 when Davido, on his birthday, made donations totaling over ₦200 million after sharing his bank account details on his Twitter page. Following the overwhelming response, he announced that all funds received would be distributed to orphanages across Nigeria, along with the Paroche Foundation, adding an extra ₦50 million before disbursing the funds as promised.
