Tinubu Stresses Support for Military, Promotes Cooperation with National Assembly

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a stern warning against attacks on the military, promising that those responsible for the killings of soldiers in Delta State will face justice. Speaking during a dinner with the Senate leadership at the State House, Tinubu assured that his administration would continue to back the military in neutralizing security threats nationwide.

Emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the integrity of the armed forces, Tinubu asserted, “We will not allow attackers to undermine the integrity and value of our armed forces and its leadership. We are committed to defending our sovereignty and banishing poverty from our land.”

Addressing the Senate leadership, Tinubu underscored the significance of maintaining the integrity of the National Assembly and pledged his administration’s support for cooperation to advance the nation’s interests.

Expressing gratitude for the Senate’s handling of the budget, Tinubu acknowledged the challenges faced by the country but remained optimistic about overcoming them. He commended the progress in economic recovery, noting improvements in revenue and emphasizing the need for prudent financial management.

Tinubu also appreciated the swift attention given to the Student Loan Amendment Bill by the National Assembly, urging tolerance, forgiveness, and charity during Ramadan.

In response, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, thanked Tinubu for hosting the lawmakers and affirmed their commitment to collaboration for the success of the administration. Akpabio highlighted the importance of regular interactions to enhance understanding and promote effective governance.

“We are determined to work with you to ensure the success of this administration,” Akpabio stated, acknowledging the shared responsibility of both the executive and legislative branches in achieving national progress.
