Former Tennis Star Tania Okpala Appointed as Special Assistant on Social Works in Anambra

The Anambra State government has officially appointed former international tennis star Tania Okpala as the Special Assistant to Governor Charles Soludo on Social Works. The appointment was formalized on Monday when Okpala received her letter of appointment after a meeting with the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Enerst Ezeajughi, at his office in Awka.

Okpala’s role will involve close collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare. According to the governor’s wife, Okpala is expected to leverage her personal life experiences to educate and inspire young people across the state. Her responsibilities will encompass social education, counseling, and various activities aimed at providing primary guidance to the youth.

Governor Soludo’s wife has already extended her congratulations to Okpala, urging her to serve with dedication and to utilize her position to positively influence and assist young individuals seeking direction. In a phone conversation with Okpala, she emphasized the importance of commitment to the new role and encouraged her to share her personal journey as a source of inspiration and support for others.

The appointment letter, which took effect from June 1, 2024, is valid for the duration of the current administration. The government expects that Okpala’s unique background and experience will greatly contribute to the social welfare initiatives in Anambra State.
