NIGERIAN CRUISERWEIGHT SENSATION, EFETOBOR APOCHI, IS SET TO FACE THE TOUGHEST TEST OF HIS PROFESSIONAL CAREER WHEN HE GOES HEAD-TO-HEAD WITH UNBEATEN AMERICAN, DEON NICHOLSON, IN A 12-ROUND WBA TITLE ELIMINATOR AT THE SHRINE EXPOSITION CENTER, LOS ANGELES ON APRIL 17.

NICHOLSON IS RANKED FIFTH IN THE WBA DIVISION, WHILE APOCHI IS RANKED SIXTH.

THE DELTA-BORN FIGHTER HAS RECORDED 10 KNOCKOUT WINS IN 10 FIGHTS, SINCE TURNING PROFESSIONAL IN 2017. THE ‘NIGERIAN PITBULL’ WAS RUTHLESS IN HIS LAST OUTING, KNOCKING DOWN JOE JONES THREE TIMES, BEFORE HIS FINAL KNOCKOUT IN THE THIRD ROUND.

APOCHI’S OPPONENT HOWEVER IS UNBEATEN IN 14 PROFESSIONAL FIGHTS, RECORDING 13 KNOCKOUTS AND ONE VICTORY VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION. FIGHTING OUT OF TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA, NICHOLSON SCORED KNOCKOUT VICTORIES IN HIS FIRST 12 PRO FIGHTS.

BOTH FIGHTERS HAVE FACED OFF AGAINST TOUGH CRUISERWEIGHT PROSPECT EARL NEWMAN WITH BOTH FIGHTERS RECORDING WINS. WHILE THE 32-YEAR-OLD NIGERIAN KNOCKED OUT NEWMAN IN THE SEVENTH ROUND IN A FIGHT HE DOMINATED FROM THE SOUND OF THE BELL, NICHOLSON WENT THE DISTANCE, WINNING BY UNANIMOUS DECISION.
