Scores of buildings have been destroyed following a downpour that ravaged several parts of Delta State over the last week.
An investigation carried out by our correspondent showed that the oil city of Warri and its environs were seriously affected even as the popular marine quarters are now a no-go area.
Besides, reptiles and various species have scared away residents in their houses.
Also badly affected is the popular Enerhen junction where hundreds of motorists have been trapped for days now.
In Ughelli, major streets have also been ‘a no-go’ area for one week, just as farmers and motorists are finding it difficult to go about their normal business.
Sapele, the Boma city is also affected as the major means of transportation were also affected.
Further investigation revealed that the situation is worse in riverine areas of the state, as the dwellers are finding it extremely difficult to travel to up land for their normal trade.
In Warri’s main town, an elderly woman was almost drowned but was saved by the people in the area.
The majority of the victims have called on the state government to come to their rescue by working on the gutters and culverts to ease the situation.
