The Sokoto State Government has launched a major recruitment drive to tackle unemployment, with 3,000 job openings announced in the state civil service.
The program, which kicked off on Monday, September 22, will run until October 6, 2025, and is open exclusively to Sokoto indigenes.
Announcing the initiative, Gandi Muhammad, Secretary of the State Recruitment Committee, said the government is determined to reduce youth unemployment while boosting manpower in the public sector. The recruitment covers all 23 Local Government Areas, with application forms available free of charge at local government offices.
For wider access, applicants can also register via the official portal: employment.sokotostate.gov.ng.
To qualify, candidates must submit their educational certificates, National Identification Number (NIN), indigene certificate, birth certificate, valid email, phone number, and a recent passport photograph. The committee warned that duplicate applications will lead to automatic disqualification.
Muhammad assured that the process will be transparent and merit-based, adding that shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email or through the portal.
Civil society groups in Sokoto welcomed the initiative, describing it as a bold step to address unemployment. However, they urged government to ensure the process remains free of political influence or favoritism.
For many young graduates in Sokoto, the recruitment drive offers not just employment but a chance at economic stability.
