President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally received and decorated the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, in a ceremony held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The event began with the reading of Oluyede’s service record, highlighting his decades of military experience, leadership roles, and key achievements. Dressed in full military regalia, the new army chief stood smartly at attention as dignitaries looked on.
In a symbolic gesture, senior officials pinned the official insignia of office on Oluyede’s uniform, marking his confirmation as the new head of the Nigerian Army.

A light-hearted moment followed when President Tinubu, while changing the General’s cap of authority, had to look up at him due to Oluyede’s towering height. The unusual height difference drew laughter from dignitaries, with the General bending slightly to receive and adjust the cap.
The ceremony ended with a military salute and a firm handshake between the President and the new Army Chief — sealing the formal handover of army leadership.
