The Kaduna State Government has pledged stronger support for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), promising to donate a brand-new Hilux van to the temporary orientation camp to ease movement and operations for corps officials.
Governor Uba Sani, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Gloria Ibrahim, made the announcement on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members.
The governor also revealed that the state is working to secure a permanent site for the NYSC orientation camp. If no suitable land is identified, the government intends to build a new camp from scratch. He further disclosed that the NYSC Governing Council has been approved and could be inaugurated before the current orientation exercise ends.
Sani described the NYSC as a national platform that fosters patriotism, service, and unity among young Nigerians. He urged corps members to remain disciplined and conduct themselves as ambassadors of peace and national development. He assured them of maximum security and welfare during their service year, while encouraging them to explore Kaduna’s opportunities in entrepreneurship, agriculture, and community service.
Earlier in her remarks, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Efeke Dadaza, commended the corps members for their dedication to the scheme. She highlighted the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC—orientation, primary assignment, community development service, and passing-out—as crucial steps in nation-building.
Dadaza expressed gratitude to Governor Sani for his continued support but also pointed out challenges confronting the scheme in Kaduna. These include the absence of a permanent orientation camp, inadequate facilities, and the urgent need for an ambulance to handle emergencies.
The swearing-in ceremony drew dignitaries, community leaders, and families who gathered to celebrate the new corps members as they embark on their year of national service.
