President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, on the occasion of his ninth anniversary on the ancient Benin throne, lauding his commitment to peace, unity, and the preservation of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the revered monarch for his exemplary leadership and dedication to addressing critical social challenges — notably human trafficking and illegal migration among youths in Edo State and across the nation.

“The President joins the government and people of Edo State, the traditional council, and the royal family in celebrating the milestone, describing the Oba’s reign as nearly a decade of impactful service to his kingdom and the nation,” the statement read.

Tinubu also commended Oba Ewuare II for championing a cultural renaissance, defending traditional values, and spearheading the global campaign for the repatriation of stolen African artefacts from Europe and other parts of the world.

“As the Oba of Benin marks nine years on the revered throne of his ancestors, the President extols his leadership in preserving Benin’s cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations,” the statement added.

President Tinubu prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the monarch, wishing him long life, good health, and greater accomplishments in his service to the Benin Kingdom, Edo State, and humanity at large.
