The Main Organising Committee (MOC) of the 2024 National Sports Festival has affirmed Ogun State's readiness to host the event, initially scheduled for November but postponed to January 2025. This confirmation came after a thorough inspection of the facilities by Mrs. Tinuke Watti, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Sports Development.

Mrs. Watti expressed satisfaction with the progress made, highlighting that the state appears prepared to deliver an outstanding festival. “We have gone around the facilities, and from what we have seen, we can see that the state is ready because a lot of the facilities have been renovated, and new ones are actually onboard," she stated. She also conveyed gratitude to the governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his significant efforts and commitment to the festival's success.

Facilities inspected included:

  • Babcock University and Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne, set to host football and basketball events.
  • Gateway International Stadium in Sagamu, designated for rugby.
  • Abeokuta Golf Club for golf events.
  • Abeokuta Sports Club and MKO Abiola Stadium, which will host the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as swimming and athletics events.
  • Alake Sports Centre in Ijeja for table tennis events.

The inspection team's positive assessment and the governor's commitment have bolstered confidence in Ogun State's ability to deliver the best National Sports Festival ever.
