Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu has officially kick-started preparations for the WAFCON 2026 qualifiers, as Nigeria gets set to face Benin Republic in a two-legged encounter.

Madugu, 61, who recently led Nigeria’s women’s team to a historic WAFCON triumph in Morocco, said he is leaving nothing to chance despite the team’s recent success. His leadership not only delivered Nigeria’s continental victory but also earned him a Ballon d’Or nomination.

The coach confirmed that Nigeria’s first leg match against Benin Republic will be played on October 20, with the second leg scheduled for October 28 in Nigeria.

He further hinted at introducing new players to blend with the existing squad, stressing that squad depth and early preparation will be key to sustaining Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.
